3 Problems That Require A Visit To A Podiatrist

Arianna Nguyen

Before you ignore any problems that you are experiencing, you might first want to consider what issues could require a trip to see a trusted podiatrist, such as at Plaza Podiatry. Take a moment to review the following problems so you will know whether you need professional medical help.

Reoccurring Ingrown Toenails

The occasional ingrown toenail might not be a major problem and can usually be prevented by refraining from cutting your toe nails too short and avoiding shoes that are too tight around the toes. However, if you are someone that gets reoccurring ingrown toenails, it might be time for professional medical treatment. Severe cases of ingrown toenails can cause infections and they can make it almost impossible to walk, as the slightest pressure or rubbing of anything against the problem toe can give terrible amounts of pain. Your podiatrist may have to trim the sides of your toenails so that they are no longer as wide and becoming ingrown.

Painful Planter Warts

Planter warts are sometimes able to be treated with over-the-counter medication that can be purchased at your local pharmacy. However, if the planter warts are incredible painful and they are not showing any signs of improvement after a few days of treatment, you may need a podiatrist to tend to them for you. Depending on the size and amount of time you have had the planter wart, your podiatrist might apply prescription strength liquid medication to apply to the wart or he or she may use a shockwave treatment that will speed up the process of killing off the planter wart.

Chronic Foot Pain

Sometimes, it is hard to see just what it is that is causing so much pain. If you have a lot of chronic pain in one or both of your feet, then you need to visit a podiatrist. The last thing you want to do is to assume that just because you cannot see what is wrong, that there is nothing a medical professional can do for you. You might have a stress fracture in your foot and not even have any memory of ever injuring yourself. This is why prompt treatment is so important.

With those three problems in mind, you should have no problem making sure that you are scheduling an appointment with a trusted podiatrist. The sooner you get an appointment scheduled, the sooner you will be able to walk on your feet without as much pain and suffering.

Getting Help With My Toes

I have never struggled with any serious medical problems, which is why I was a little apprehensive to head to the doctor when I noticed that my toes were itchy and inflamed. I didn't want to report a problem that would disappear on its own within a few days, so I decided to wait it out. Unfortunately, the issue continued to get worse until I could barely walk. I decided to visit a doctor, and he was a ton of help. He told me that I had developed a fungal infection, and that it could be serious if it wasn't treated. I got the help that I needed, and now my toes feel great. This blog is here to help other people to learn more about podiatry.
